Fitting laminate flooring to a
staircase isn't as difficult as it seems, although
time patience and an ability to measure and re
measure are fundamental. Here in this picture is a
bare staircase, standard width 800mm (uk) |
|

|
 |
First install Hall/Landing flooring,
then batten out the riser. The riser is vertical
stairpart and the going is the horizontal part. We
do this because all stair nosing profiles require a
square corner to fit to. We use 19mm battens, kiln
dried and screwed to riser.

|
 |
We then cut the laminate planks to length/width and
loose lay in place. TRICK: the riser laminate we fit
GROOVE pointing down, the going laminate we fit
Tongue pointing in, this achieves a superb sharp
clean joint. When all is well we number rear of
planks , ie 1r and 1g then 2r and 2g, where r =riser
g= going. We then using a HIGH grab clear silicone
apply adhesive to CLEAN steps and place laminate
into the adhesive, we install beads of silicone
every 2 inches. |
|

|
 |
We then cut the stair profiles to length and glue
them direct to the Going, using hi grab silicone. As
you can see the finish is superb. |
